Classes delayed at Comeaux High School due to vandalism
UPDATE, 4/10/25, 12 p.m.: Students at Comeaux High School are back in class after their morning was disrupted by the vandalism that had taken place last night.
Superintendent Francis Touchet jr. told News 10 that around 10:30 p.m. last night a group of individuals broke into the school and vandalized the facility with spray paint and other items that were not specified.
The reports came to Lafayette Parish School Board around 6:30 a.m. this morning. Upon hearing this report, students were escorted to a safe neutral location on campus and classes were delayed until cleaning crews cleared the area.
According to our sources, classes were delayed by an hour and half where students missed out on their early morning education.
Touchet told News 10 that there is a current investigation to find who is responsible and the necessary discipline following these actions.
ORGINAL STORY: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Students at Comeaux High School had their studies disrupted this morning after vandals defaced the interior of the school overnight, according to a release from Lafayette Parish School System
"Overnight, a group of individuals unlawfully entered the Comeaux High campus and defaced school property," the release read. "Students are being held in the gyms this morning while maintenance crews clean up the affected areas."
Officials said no students are in danger and the campus is safe. The incident remains under investigation.
