Unique History Announced During the Masters on Thursday
Representation matters!
Well, kind of. On Thursday morning the first round of the Masters teed off with the best players in the world flocking to Augusta, GA for the first major tournament of the year.
Scottie Scheffler entered the tournament as the frontrunner after winning two of the last three green jackets. Rory McIlroy entered the tournament as a close second, in search of the career grand slam, while Jon Rahm was a distant betting third.
With the first major tournament taking center stage, history was announced just after the opening tee shots were hit. Golfer reporter and host Shane Bacon revealed there are a record eight lefties in the field this week.
"Shoutout to all those lefties out there ... 2025 is the most left-handers ever in a Masters field with 8," he said.

Three of the eight lefties have won the Masters, with Mike Weir breaking through in 2003 as the first. Phil Mickelson took over the mantle as the best lefty in the game - likely ever - with Masters titles in 2004, 2006 and 2010 before he passed the sticks to Bubba Watson, who won two titles with Scheffler's current caddie, Ted Scott, in 2012 and 2014.
While the other five don't have a major title to their names, they're still consistent players on the PGA Tour - with Brian Harman winning just last weekend. Ahskay Bhatia, Matt McCarty, Joe Highsmith and Robert MacIntyre round out the list.
Watson leads all lefties at one-under through seven holes.
