Amateur Appears to Admit He Peed on Augusta National at the Masters Today
The 2025 Masters Tournament got underway on Thursday, April 10. Fans were treated to some strong play from high-profile names, including Justin Rose, Scottie Scheffler and Corey Conners (both four-under), Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama and Bryson DeChambeau among others.
Along with the stellar play from some in round one of the action, there were also a few wild and unexpected storylines that emerged throughout the day. Among the most noteworthy came from U.S. Amateur champion Jose Luis Ballester.
Ballester told Golf Digest that he peed in Rae's Creek during round one, explaining how the situation came about.

"Well, I completely forgot that we had those restrooms to the left of the tee box," Ballester said, confirming he meant on the 13th tee.
"Then I'm like, I really need to pee. Didn't really know where to go, and since JT had an issue on the green, I'm like, I'm just going to sneak here in the river and probably people would not see me that much ... and they clapped for me," Ballester continued.
After confirming that it was "one of the [real loud] claps that I really got today," Ballester admitted he wasn't concerned about any embarrassment or blowback from it.
"They saw me. They saw me. It was not embarrassing at all for me. If I had to do it again, I would do it again," he said.
At the very least, you have to respect the honesty of Ballester on the situation.
Ballester finished the opening round at four-over par, shooting a 76 and sitting tied for 75th heading into round two.
