SRO returning to Niskayuna CSD, school nickname selected
NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Niskayuna Board of Education has decided to bring a school resource officer back to the district for the first time in nearly 20 years. Leaders said the officer will be primarily stationed at the high school.
The district will also add one full-time security monitor at each elementary school. Local law enforcement will attend the next board of education meeting at the end of April to discuss the SRO program and what it will mean for the district.
The BOE has also decided the school will just be referred to as Niskayuna or Nisky starting in June when the Silver Warriors nickname is retired.
The district considered adopting the name Silver Knights, but school leaders could not come to a unanimous decision on the matter.
