M40 motorway closed for the next few hours after ‘serious’ crash
A busy motorway is closed with delays of up to two hours for drivers as an air ambulance responds to a ‘serious crash’.
The M40 is closed between junction 13 for Bishops Tachbrook and junction 14 for Leamington.
A two-vehicle collision has prompted a major response from an air ambulance on the scene, with drivers facing delays of up to two hours.
The accident happened earlier this morning, but it’s unknown if anyone has died.
A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said: ‘We’re currently at the scene of a two-vehicle collision on the northbound stretch of the M40 between junction 13 (Bishops Tachbrook) and junction 14 (Leamington).
‘The road is expected to be closed for at least the next few hours, so please avoid the area and follow diversions where possible.’
The RAC said: ‘Accident hotspots are difficult to pinpoint because accidents can occur at anytime, and for several reasons.
‘As always, the best driving advice is to drive with caution, take regular breaks, and receive M40 traffic updates and travel news to be aware of any accidents and avoid resulting delays.’
National Highways posted: ‘The M40 remains closed northbound between J13 (Bishops Tachbrook) and J14 (Barford) following a serious collision.
‘We’re now reporting delays on approach to the closure of two hours above usual journey times.
‘Emergency Services remain in attendance. Plan ahead if travelling in the area, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.’
