Crawfish prices drop in Louisiana as Easter holiday approaches
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Average crawfish prices in Louisiana continue to decrease as the Easter holiday approaches.
According to The Crawfish App, the average price for live crawfish is $3.14 per pound, and boiled crawfish is around $5.55 per pound. A sack of live crawfish can be bought for under $3 per pound in Louisiana.
"While the crawfish docks did not drop the wholesale cost of crawfish this week, we are happy to report that more retailers started selling crawfish this week in anticipation of Easter sales, driving competition up and prices down," The Crawfish App Co-founder Laney King said.
King suggested that if you want crawfish over the Easter weekend, you might want to reserve your sack soon.
"Crawfish supply should remain strong going into Easter week with the current weather forecast, but demand will be stronger than ever, so get those Easter weekend sacks reserved sooner than later," King said.
The Crawfish App can be downloaded for free to see crawfish prices from local vendors and restaurants near you.
