Opelousas police seize drugs and firearm in narcotics search
OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- Opelousas Police Department conducted a narcotics search at a residence located at the 1100 block of the East Laurent Street earlier this morning.
Authorities said they detained Deontre Rideau, as well as another woman.
During the search authorities found an AR-15 rifle, approximately 3 pounds of suspected marijuana, 48 fluid ounces of Promethazine and multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia, authorities said.
This operation follows ongoing investigations into several violent crimes that have occurred within the city limits over the past few years, authorities said.
