Move Over, Marvel: ‘A Minecraft Movie’ Is Officially the Biggest Hit of the Year
A Minecraft Movie may not be a hit with critics, but that is not stopping audiences from lining up in droves to see it. Despite holding a rather unenviable 46% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has been scoring with audiences (who have given it an 88% rating on the Popcornmeter).
In just seven days, Minecraft has amassed a total domestic gross of $200,361,733, making it the highest grossing movie of 2025 so far. The film, which is based on the popular video game, has earned just enough to push Marvel’s first big release of the year, Captain America: Brave New World (which received mixed reviews) out of the top spot.
