Video Shows Fans Bringing Live Chickens to Minecraft Movie
The success of the Minecraft movie has been met with some truly unexpected fan behavior—think thrown popcorn, loud chanting, and now… live chickens. It all goes down during the now-famous chicken jockey scene, during which Jack Black and Jason Momoa face off against a baby zombie riding a Minecraft chicken.
In a video that is making the rounds on social media, one moviegoer can be seen holding a live chicken high in the air as chaos erupts in the theater. Text overlaying the video claims that those responsible for bringing the animal into the theater were kicked out of the screening.
While the mayhem has created challenges for movie theater employees, the film's director doesn't appear to have any complaints.
"It's way too funny. It's been a total blast. I'm just laughing my brains out every time someone sends me a new video," director Jared Hess told The New York Times.

"Just the fact that people are making memories at the movies - that's what it's all about. That's why we do it. I never could have anticipated this level of passion and fun and craziness that's happening."
He finished up, "No one's going to get hurt from popcorn. Look, when I go to the movies with my kids, it’s like a popcorn massacre that happens and they're not throwing anything, but it ends up on the ground, regardless."
At this time, the movie has made over $430million globally. With an expected $80 million haul in its second weekend, "Minecraft" has officially become the year’s highest-grossing North American release, per Variety.
