Colby Covington couldn’t let Paddy Pimblett have the spotlight to himself at UFC 314.
“The Baddy” scored the biggest win of his career Saturday in Miami, earning a third-round knockout of veteran lightweight contender Michael Chandler in the co-main event.
During a backstage interview, Pimblett was verbally accosted by Covington out of nowhere. Covington began shouting at Pimblett, criticizing the quality of the Englishman’s UFC opposition.

“You’re fighting scrubs,” Covington said. “Guys who are 2-6. You’re a bum. You beat guys who are 2-6, remember that. Remember that, you’re a scrub. ... You’re a fraud.”
Pimblett fired back, calling out Covington’s “three-fight losing streak.”
Covington is actually on a two-fight losing streak, though he is just 1-3 in his past four fights and has not had his hand raised since defeating rival Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 272 in March 2022.
At the moment, Pimblett is focused on chasing lightweight gold as he called out highly ranked names Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, and Charles Oliveira following his win over Chandler.
