'The Breakfast Club' Cast's Emotional Reunion Teases a Sequel
For the first time in four decades, all five major cast members of the 1985 classic The Breakfast Club have appeared in person together, for one incredible reunion. At the Chicago Comic Con and Entertainment Expo on Saturday, April 12, 2025, actors Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Estèvez, and Anthony Michael Hall. The classic film, all about five kids in high school detention, was directed by John Hughes and hit theaters on February 15, 1985. It not only changed the lives of its five stars, but also won over the hearts of moviegoers everywhere.
The onstage reunion was part of a special panel presentation at C2E2, and all five cast members appeared at the convention on both Saturday and Sunday. But is there a future for this beloved 80s franchise?
Fans in attendance were thrilled with one person writing on Instagram: "Absolutely amazing day, the panel had me in tears." Other fans immediately were clamoring for a possible Breakfast Club 2.
"It's a real culture onto itself," Hall told NBC News ahead of the event. "I don't know if [a sequel] will ever happen...never say never."
Earlier this year, Hall spoke to Men's Journal about his experience working with director John Hughes in the early 80s, including The Breakfast Club. "John was my big brother on set. And often I just really wanted to make him happy," Hall reflected.
"I wanted to make him laugh. I wanted to deliver for him in any way, even though I was a kid."
