‘The Breakfast Club’ Cast Poses For Rare Photo For Film’s 40th Anniversary
The full cast of the 1985 film The Breakfast Club reunited for the first time in 40 years. In a photo posted to Instagram on April 12, Anthony Michael Hall, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy posed in front of red lockers in honor of the film’s 40th anniversary.
The actors reunited at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) for a panel moderated by Josh Horowitz. The host also shared a photo on Instagram as he jumped into a shot with the cast. “THE BREAKFAST CLUB reunited for the first time in 40 years and admitted one more member to the club,” Horowitz wrote.
The Breakfast Club was released in February 1985. The John Hughes coming-of-age film followed five teens forced to serve Saturday detention in the library of their Chicago high school.
During the panel, Estevez, who played high school wrestler Andrew Clark in the film, said he was happy to attend his first-ever reunion.
“I skipped all my high school reunions, so this was something that finally felt like I needed to do, just for myself,” Estevez, 62, said, per Us Weekly. “This one felt special because it’s here in Chicago where we made the film, it’s the 40th anniversary, and I just love all of them [cast], so it just made sense.”
Ringwald, who played popular “princess” Claire Standish in The Breakfast Club, described the reunion as “emotional.” “I feel very emotional and moved to have us all together," the 57-year-old actress said, per People magazine.
