Jared McCain Update
Sounds like rehab is going pretty well
With his superb outside shooting, his surprising rebounding and his infectious personality, Jared McCain made a huge impression as a Duke freshman last season.
In his rookie season, McCain emerged as a strong NBA Rookie of the Year candidate until he tore his meniscus, which brought a successful first year to an early end.
Now though, McCain is starting to move past rehab to test his knee not on the court and reports that he can jump some without pain which is great news.
McCain is not alone in rehab - Philly had a disastrous season when it came to injuries, which means they’re going to have a good pick (fifth before the lottery) and they may end up drafting Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel or Khaman Malauch which would make the Sixers a solid outpost of the Brotherhood.
Speaking of McCain, he recently revealed that he has Filipino ancestry, “about 10 percent.”
As far as we can remember, that would make him the third person of Filipino ancestry to play at Duke, behind Chip Engelland during the Foster era and the dawn of the Krzyzewski era, and Vanessa de Jesus, who just finished her fourth year at Duke before entering the transfer portal.
