Katy Perry Fans Concerned After She Screams Going Into Outer Space
On April 14, Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket took an all-female crew of celebrity astronauts to outer space, and in the process, they made history. The event marked the first all-female space mission since Russia's Valentina Tereshkova went on a solo spaceflight back in 1963, according to The Daily Mail.
The commercial spacecraft, which was built by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin company, carried Jeff Bezos's fiancée Lauren Sánchez, popstar Katy Perry, CBS co-host Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyne, filmmaker Kieranne Flynn and and NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe.
Moments before takeoff, Bezos was picked up on the broadcast saying, "When you get back, I want to hear how it has changed you. I love you all."
As the flight took off, the crew, including Perry, could be heard screaming during the broadcast's livestream.
Some fans were concerned by Perry's screams. After all, anyone who remembers, or has studied, the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger tragedy could have worries about such travels.
According to The Mirror, "Fans flooded to the live stream with comments sharing their concern as Katy could be heard manically screaming."
One viewer said, "I thought we lost Katy Perry for a sec I'm screaming," according to The Mirror. Another concern viewer said, "The screaming that just happened on the live stream oh my ... I thought Katy was a goner, I thought that was it."
Thankfully, the spacecraft landed safely, and Perry had some loving words after her experience.
"I feel super connected to love. So connected to love," she said per Fox News, joined by her fiancé Orlando Bloom and daughter Daisy Dove, who were waiting for her back on Earth. "I think this experience has shown me you never know how much love is inside of you, like how much love you have to give, and how loved you are until the day you launch."
