Walton Goggins Had Telling Reaction to Controversial 'SNL' Sketch
Walton Goggins had a telling reaction to the controversial "Saturday Night Live" sketch that aired on NBC on Saturday evening.
NBC's comedy sketch show poked fun at the hit HBO show this weekend, in the latest episode of "SNL" that was hosted by actor Jon Hamm. The sketch, dubbed the "White Potus," mocked the show - and the U.S. government - but it took heat for its portrayal of one of the actors from "The White Lotus."
Aimee Lou Wood, the 31-year-old actress who played Goggins' on-screen girlfriend in Season 3 of "The White Lotus," was mocked for her teeth. The "SNL" cast member playing Wood's character wore some extreme fake teeth during the sketch.
Wood wasn't happy with the sketch, calling it "mean."
The actress said that she's OK with being made fun of "when it's clever and in good spirits" but that there "must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way."
Wood called the sketch unfunny. She had previously spoken with GQ about her teeth.
"It makes me really happy that it's symbolising rebellion and freedom, but there's a limit," she said.
Wood added: "I don't know if it was a man would we be talking about it this much? It's still going on about a woman's appearance."
Meanwhile, Goggins, who is rumored to be in somewhat of a feud with Wood, had a telling reaction to the sketch.
Goggins re-posted the "SNL" sketch on social media over the weekend, calling it "smashing."
“Jon I knew I was miscast,” he wrote, in a reference Jon Hamm portraying Robert F. Kennedy Jr. while channeling his character, Rick.
Goggins, 53, also left a comment on the Instagram post from the "SNL" account.
“Hahahahahhahaha Amazzzingggg.”
HBO is already planning Season 4 of Mike White's hit show.
