Everyone Made the Same Joke After Awkward Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy Exchange
Late last month country music star Morgan Wallen made headlines with his abrupt exit from the Saturday Night Live stage.
Following the conclusion of the show, Wallen stood next to best actress winner Mikey Madison, who addressed the audience, “Thank you so much to Morgan Wallen. I had a wonderful time. Thank you all.”
After giving a brief wave to the crowd, the country star abruptly exited the stage directly in front of the camera while the rest of the crew exchanged pleasantries. He later delivered a short message on social media, "Get me to God's country."
The message has become a bit of a meme and resurfaced on Sunday, April 13 following Rory McIlroy's victory in the 2025 Masters Tournament. Following the win, McIlroy received his long-awaited green jacket from 2024 champion Scottie Scheffler, who promptly fled the scene of the exchange, dropping out of camera view within seconds.

While Scheffler was just clearing the way for McIlroy to take his seat as the new Masters champion, fans watching from home couldn't quite help but think of Wallen's abrupt exit from the SNL stage.
"Left the room like Morgan Wallen on SNL," one fan joked.
"Get me to God's Country," joked another.
"Back to God's Country," added a third.
Scheffler, meanwhile, finished 8-under for the tournament and just three shots back of the leaders.
"It was easily a week in which I could have gotten frustrated with either how I was playing or how I was swinging or stuff going on on the course, not hitting it where I was looking," Scheffler said after his round. “I was just proud of the way we hung in there and put up a good fight. A few different things happen today and I maybe have a chance in the tournaments. I wasn’t far off."
Who will win the green jacket next year?
