Bryson DeChambeau Breaks Silence on Masters Loss With Message for Rory McIlroy
Entering the final round of the Masters, Bryson Dechambeau sat just two shots off the lead held by Rory McIlroy.
After one hole played together, though, DeChambeau sat tied for the lead at 10-under and just one hole later he held a one-shot advantage over McIlroy after carding a birdie at the Par 5 No. 5 hole to sit at 11-under while his counterpart sat at 10-under. Unfortunately for DeChambeau it was all down hill from there as he fell a full seven shots back on the back nine before finishing at 7-under, four shots off the lead.
For McIlroy it was a bit of revenge after DeChambeau outlasted him at the 2024 U.S. Open, winning by one shot. After falling to his playing partner, DeChambeau needed a night's sleep to reflect on the loss.
When he finally did break his silence, the American star made it clear he's motivated to come back even stronger, while also offering a message for the Northern Irishman.
I"t was a battle all week, and even without my best stuff, I proved to myself that I have the ability to win this tournament one day. It’s tough, but moments like this have taught me a lot and now I’m more motivated than ever to get back to work. Thank you all for the unwavering support this week! We will be back," DeChambeau said before sending his message to McIlroy.

"Huge congratulations to Rory on an incredible achievement in completing the career Grand Slam of golf. He deserved to get this one," he added.
With the win, McIlroy became just the sixth player in history to win the grand slam - winning all four of golf's major titles: the Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and the Open Championship.
