The Bar Door from ‘Cheers’—Plus Norm and Cliff’s Barstools—Can Be Yours
If you’ve ever fantasized about sidling up to the bar at a Boston pub where everybody knows your name, it’s your lucky week.
Julien’s Auctions, an auction house dedicated to scouring the world for the most unique pop culture memorabilia, is putting a handful of one-of-a-kind props from Cheers up for bids as part of “Channel Surfing,” a two-day live and online auction event that will kick off on May 7.
Most exciting among the Cheers-related artifacts is the original front door to the bar’s set, with its name emblazoned across the top. It served as the fictional pub’s entrance for all 11 seasons of the beloved sitcom—but this kind of history does not come cheap. While the bidding will start at $30,000, Julien’s is expecting the prop to sell for somewhere between $125,000 to $150,000.

If you’re looking for even more Cheers goodies, both Norm (George Wendt) and Cliff’s (John Ratzenberger) favorite barstools are up for grabs; bidding begins at $2,500 apiece and they’re expected to sell for between $10,000 and $20,000 each. Several bar props and costumes—including clothing worn by Ted Danson, Shelley Long, Rhea Perlman, Kirstie Alley, and Kelsey Grammer.
Speaking of Grammer: Julien’s also raided Dr. Frasier Crane’s Seattle penthouse to bring even more memorabilia from the extended Cheers universe of Frasier. Dr. Crane’s Coco Chanel-inspired suede sofa (estimated to sell for $20,000 to $30,000) and several items from Frasier’s favorite coffee shop, Caffe Nervosa, are also hitting the auction block.
The auction includes pieces from the most popular TV series of the past 60 years, including Captain Kangaroo, Bewitched, Star Trek, M*A*S*H*, The Brady Bunch, Dynasty, Six Feet Under, Dexter, Breaking Bad, The Office, Veep, and more.
