Aldi shoppers snap up brand new Baileys dupe flavour that’s 50% cheaper than original but fans are divided over taste
ALDI fans are racing to get their hands on a brand new Ballycastle liqueur – and it’s already causing a stir.
The limited-edition Honeycomb Cream flavour has landed in Aldi stores across the UK, and it’s being snapped up fast.
At just £6.99 for a 700ml bottle, it offers a massive saving compared to Baileys, which can sell for as much as £17 elsewhere.
The creamy tipple is produced in Northern Ireland and boasts a blend of double cream, alcohol, and sweet honeycomb flavourings.
With an alcohol content of 12%, it’s designed to be enjoyed over ice or added to indulgent cocktails.
But while the price and packaging have tempted shoppers, the taste has sparked debate online.
One Facebook user didn’t hold back, writing: “Horrible it is!”
In contrast, another replied: “It’s gorgeous,” and a third added: “Yummy.”
The product was first spotted online before its store release, with one eagle-eyed shopper posting to a Facebook group: “Is anyone excited about this? I am – looks delicious.”
Many others agreed, tagging friends and planning their next Aldi trip.
Ballycastle has become a go-to for fans of flavoured liqueurs, with Aldi regularly dropping seasonal or limited-edition spins on the classic Irish cream-style drink.
Last month, just ahead of St Patrick’s Day, Aldi introduced the Ballycastle Stout Flavour Country Cream.
Priced at £7.99, it was described as having “prominent malt notes balanced by the subtle sweetness of Irish cream.”
The launch included cocktail recipes and even a dessert idea, proving how versatile the drink can be.
In October 2024, Aldi launched the Ballycastle S’mores Country Cream, which mixed chocolate, biscuit, vanilla and marshmallow flavours.
That edition was also a hit, with shoppers rushing to try the nostalgic combination.
With each new flavour, Aldi shoppers seem split, but the buzz never fades.

Ballycastle Stout Flavour Country Cream:
Aldi launched a Guinness inspired Irish cream earlier this year, just in time for St Patrick’s Day this month.
It boasted a “luxuriously smooth, creamy texture with prominent malt notes balanced by the subtle sweetness of Irish cream”, the retailer revealed.
The retailer added: “It’s a sophisticated sip that’s perfect for after-dinner indulgence or mixing into a celebratory cocktail.”
Ballycastle Country Cream:
A direct duplicate of the classic Baileys flavour, this drink has seen its price drop to as low as just £4.49 a bottle in the past.
The drink describes itself as an “elegant, Irish tipple” and promises its drinkers a rich, chocolate and vanilla creaminess.
With “toffee undertones”, the sweet finish derives from the aptly-named Golden Vale region in Ireland.
Ballycastle Chocolate Crème:
This delectable alcoholic drink was inspired by the much-loved Cadbury Creme Eggs treat.
The drink is described as “a deliciously smooth, Irish Cream blend with delicate hints of chocolate and sweet vanilla.”
Specially Selected Luxury Edition, Irish Cream Liqueur:
King of the big-brand dupes, Aldi does a great job at an alcoholic imitation of the most well-known name in Irish Cream, with this caramel-like, creamy tipple, getting the balance of booze with rich cream and flavour just right.
It’s almost there as a comparison in the glass, just let down by a little oiliness on the finish.
Ballycastle S’mores Country Cream:
Launched in time for Christmas last year, this funky drink combined rich chocolate and biscuit flavours with hints of vanilla and fluffy marshmallow.
Aldi added: “This nostalgic tipple is guaranteed to ignite shoppers’ tastebuds – just simply enjoy neat over ice or enjoy as part of an indulgent s’mores-tail.”
