Longhorns women's basketball signs 6-foot-6 Swedish center from Florida Atlantic
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas head coach Vic Schaefer's Final Four team got a little bigger Monday in more ways than one.
The program announced the transfer signing of Lovisa Asbrink Hose, a 6-foot-6 center who played her freshman season at Flordia Atlantic University in 2024-25. Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, Hose averaged 14.4 minutes per game, scoring 3.4 points and grabbing 3.8 rebounds per game.
"Her versatility and footwork around the rim as well as her ability to face up and score really bring a unique skill set to our team," Schaefer said via a press release. "Her parents flew here from Sweden to be here on the official visit and, like most, were very impressed with both our academics as well as our athletic success here. Her best basketball is way ahead of her as she grows accustomed to the college game and playing at this level."
Hose played in 22 games with five starts for the Owls, shooting 43.4% from the field with 12 blocked shots on the defensive end.
The women's basketball transfer portal opened March 25 and closes April 22, so there's still time for the Longhorns to add players. Jordana Codio, a junior guard, entered the portal April 6.
