Off the Beaten Path: The Tool Box
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The Tool Box is a volunteer run, donation based tool resale shop. They have about 30,000-50,000 tools in their inventory.
Proceeds from the sales support senior citizens in the community through the Umbrella of Colonie Home Maintenance Program of Colonie Senior Service Centers. Umbrella of Colonie connects senior homeowners to a wide variety of home maintenance services, at an affordable cost, allowing them to continue to live safely and independently in their own homes.
“I say it's like a thrift store for secondhand tools and it breaks it up into different categories. It's plumbing, it’s electrical, its gardening,” said Diane Conroy-LaCivita, the executive director of the Colonie Senior Service Centers.
The Tool Box is located at 143 Troy Schenectady Road in Watervliet (Town of Colonie). The store is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
