Regal Cinemas to pay settlement fee to NYC moviegoers from 2023 to 2024
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- If you watched a movie at Regal Cinemas in New York between 2023 and 2024 you may be entitled to financial compensation.
In a class action lawsuit, Regal was accused of not disclosing a booking fee for electronic tickets prior to them being selected for purchase by moviegoers.
Although the theater company has denied the allegations, they have agreed to pay $2,500,000 in settlement fees to customers in New York.
Movie goers who bought electronic tickets from Regal's website to any film screening in New York state and specifically used the guest checkout option between July 31, 2023, to July 15, 2024, may be entitled to a portion of the settlement fund.
Additionally, the theater company has agreed to clearly show the total cost of the tickets, including the booking fee, prior to a ticket being selected for purchase.
