Britain’s Got Talent in show shake-up as ITV adds MORE Golden Buzzers despite fans branding them ‘a joke’
SHOW bosses at Britain’s Got Talent have decided to introduce even more Golden Buzzers on the ITV talent show.
The TV network announced “a brand-new twist” to the upcoming live semi-finals and that would be the introduction of Golden Buzzers.
It will be the first time in Britain’s Got Talent history that the four celebrity judges and hosts, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnely, will be able to use the coveted gong during the live shows.
“in each Semi-Final, either one of the Judges or Ant and Dec will be given control of the Golden Buzzer, and as soon as they see a performance worthy of a place in the Final, they will have just one opportunity to press it,” ITV said in its announcement on Wednesday.
“That act will be granted a one-way ticket to the Final, along with one other act from that night who will be voted in by the public.”
ITV also announced that the live semi-finals will be airing weekly on Saturday nights.
Fans of the show reacted to the news on X, formerly Twitter.
“Another silly addition to a show that used to be good. Allows orchestration of who they want to win and likely make money from,” wrote one person.
Another added: “Won’t they just buzz their audition golden buzzers through??? Unless they have to see all acts first before deciding who gets the golden buzzer??”
And a third posted: “This is getting silly now, far too many golden buzzers going on. Get back to how it used to be and remove these things.”
A fourth wrote: “Starting to become a joke now!”
The latest Britain’s Got Talent news come around one month after fans raged over another Golden Buzzer twist.
Viewers declared it unfair when judge Amanda Holden appeared to press her Golden Buzzer for an act at the urging of live audience.
In March 11-year-old Oliver left the judges and audience stunned with his electric guitar performance.
The crowd in the theatre started to chant in unison as they pressured one of the judges to press the golden buzzer after they gave the young lad a standing ovation.
After a few seconds Amanda stood back up as she firmly put both hands on the giant button on the judges desk.
But following the scenes, fans have slammed the constant chanting by the audience for the judges to press their golden buzzer – and called for bosses to step in.
Taking to a web forum, one viewer said: “Oh yeah, the idiots are chanting, decision made.”
The first semi-final starts on Saturday April 26 on ITV at 7pm.

Bruno Tonioli makes up the fab four. After leaving Strictly, he decided to move over to ITV and is the newest BGT judge after replacing David Walliams.
