Rotten Tomatoes Score for Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ Starring Michael B. Jordan Turns Heads
The early returns on Ryan Coogler’s latest film starring Michael B. Jordan signal that the product is backing up the hype.
Intrigue surrounding Coogler's latest release, Sinners, has quickly ramped up in recent months, and it's set to premiere on Friday, April 18. The film, which features Jordan, co-star Hailee Steinfeld and a strong cast including Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson and Omar Miller among others, is receiving rave reviews from critics early on.
Out of 90 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of this article, Sinners reached nearly uncharted territory, earning a 99% score. As pointed out by Discussing Film, this makes Coogler's new film one of the only movies ever to receive a near-perfect score.

After looking through the full breakdown of reviews, there was just one person who did not give Sinners a red tomato, which signals that it's "fresh."
It's a stellar opening stretch for the new film, which is described as follows by IMDB:
"Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back."
Coogler has directed multiple noteworthy films in his career, including Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Creed and Fruitvale Station.
Coogler's latest film could be one of the few positioned to press recent box office juggernaut, A Minecraft Movie. After two weekends, the Jack Black and Jason Momoa movie has been the most popular of 2025, pulling in north of $281 million domestically and $550 million globally.
Sinners has its work cut out for it, but if the reviews are any indication, there'll be no shortage of interest from fans hoping to see the film in theatres.
