Capital Region-based coffee chain opens in Albany International
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Travelers at Albany International Airport now have another coffee option to help fight their flying fatigue. Capital Region-based coffee shop Uncommon Grounds opened its new location in the airport on Wednesday.
Uncommon Grounds sits in the airport's main terminal on the second level, marking the eighth eatery in the area. The shop will offer the brand's usual fare of fresh New York-style bagels and coffee.
Uncommon Grounds has several other locations throughout the Capital Region, including in Saratoga Springs, Clifton Park, Guilderland and more.
"We are excited to expand our footprint and extend our offerings to airport passengers!" said Uncommon Grounds Owner Mike Hoover.
The opening comes as the airport, which serves northeastern New York, western New England and Southern Vermont, undergoes a $100 million revitalization project. The construction is expected to be complete in 2026 and includes plans for ticket counter upgrades, two new gates and the addition of a children's playroom, business center and sensory area.
"Significant progress is being made in our terminal expansion project and what better way to support local business and rejuvenate travelers on their journey, than with a delicious cup of locally roasted coffee from Uncommon Grounds,” said Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy.
