Mom-Shamers Accuse Paris Hilton of Favoring One Child Over the Other & It’s Time to Log Off the Internet
Paris Hilton can’t catch a break. The internet trolls are after her again, criticizing part of her parenting that moms have been accused of since the dawn of time: having a favorite child. Yes, seriously. This is a question 5-year-olds ask or pesky older siblings claim — not a valid or helpful critique. And yet, people are blowing up the comments section of the “Stars Are Blind” singer’s latest post to claim that she is favoring one of her babies over the other. (*Cue massive eye roll here.*) Let’s break it down, shall we?
It all started when Hilton posted an adorable TikTok of her kids Phoenix, 2, and London, 17 months, who she shares with husband Carter Reum. The heiress and entrepreneur shared a peek into her trip to the music festival Coachella with her kids. “Phoenix is already sneaking out to Coachella!” she joked in text over the video, adding in her caption, “Uh oh … Phoenix is going to be trouble like his mama ???? #Coachella.”
In the video, Phoenix rides a little balance bike outside, in front of shiny metallic streamers. “Coachella!” she coaches in the clip, prompting Phoenix to say it back in his adorable toddler voice. At one point, Phoenix backs up into his sister, who is standing behind him holding a toy cell phone. And she is totally unfazed after the bump.
“She’s a tough girl,” The Simple Life alum comments, as Phoenix looks back and touches his sister on the face like he is checking to make sure she’s OK. Later, Hilton asks her son if he’s “taking the bike to Coachella” and “sneaking out,” and he confirms that he is “sneaking out” with the cutest little giggle. Ugh, these kids are too much, we love it!
At this, London runs over to the other balance bike, and Hilton warns, “Well don’t teach your sister to sneak out too!” These little cuties are adorable, and definitely love each other, so we don’t understand why some people felt the need to slam her parenting style.
“She always favors Phoenix over London ????,” one person wrote. Someone else claimed, “She always showing and talking about him , never about her ????”
“Doesn’t even acknowledge that he crashed into London and see if she alright just made sure Phoenix was,” someone else judgily wrote. Another claimed, “Can tell between both kids Phoenix is your favorite.”
These people need to get a grip. This is a cute video, she clearly paid attention to both kids — and even made sure London was OK during the minor, blink-and-you’d-miss-it accident.
Other fans wanted to make sure people knew that a short video (one that’s not even bad!) doesn’t give you all-knowing access into their lives. Like this person, who wrote in Hilton’s defense, “Are you around them 24/7? NO! You’re NOT! Paris is a great mom and she does not favor one over the other.” Someone else said, “So weird, we see minute videos and decide the entire narrative. That is so bizarre especially if they are grown adults.”
This isn’t the first time Hilton’s been bombarded by mom-shamers. Last month, she shared a video of London playing with her purses, and everyone got on to her for reportedly “act[ing] like she doesn’t know her.” Literally, people need to log off for a while and go touch grass if they are getting this mad about complete non-issues.
As for Hilton, she is just enjoying her babies and doing her best to parent them the best way she knows how. In an interview with Grazia Magazine in March, the Paris in Love star shared that she hopes her kids don’t actually sneak out when they get older.
“I get scared about thinking about them as teenagers and how fast the world is moving,” she told the outlet. “It also makes me nervous to think about them sneaking out. I know how dangerous the world can be.”
But the DJ has a plan: “I’m thinking I’ll make a house so much fun that they won’t even ever want to go out,” Hilton said, adding that she wants to teach her kids “to be good human beings and love sports and music and to be super busy in school.” And to ignore the haters, which goes without saying.
