'Deport every illegal': OSU students react to conservative student group flyers
STILLWATER, Okla. (KFOR) — Some Oklahoma State University students are reacting to flyers posted by a student group on campus calling for the deportation of "illegals."
News 4 received a tip from an Oklahoma State University (OSU) student on Wednesday that the flyers had been posted in the student union and on multiple boards in buildings across campus.
They have the abbreviation D.E.I., which is most commonly associated with diversity, equity, and inclusion, however, the flyers follow up the abbreviation with the words "deport every illegal."
"I think that's horrible," said one OSU student News 4 spoke with. "That makes me really sad."
News 4 confirmed the flyers were posted by the Young Americans for Freedom at Oklahoma State. A university spokesperson confirmed the group is a student group. The group's social media accounts say it's committed to "promoting the principles of conservatism on campus."
News 4 reached out to several current members on Wednesday, requesting an interview to discuss the flyers. The group provided the following statement:
Young Americans for Freedom at Oklahoma State University boldly and unapologetically stands for the conservative Christian values that make this nation great. We believe that it is right that the deportation of illegals occurs to uphold the rule of law, protect Americans from vicious foreign criminals, deter future criminal entry, and encourage lawful entry into our country. We can be followed on Instagram @yafokstate and we hold regular meetings and events on campus during the semester!

Every student on campus News 4 asked to weigh in on the flyer in person said they didn't agree with it, despite arguments of free speech.
"I am so sorry that you have to see this," said an OSU student regarding any student who might feel personally offended by the sign.
Reactions on social media Wednesday were mixed, with some users praising the student group and others recommending the signs should be reported and removed.
News 4 reached out to an Oklahoma State University spokesperson for comment:
The flyer was created by a student group. OSU is content neutral concerning these student groups and does not endorse student groups’ messages. The university has over 500 student groups, and some of those are going to have conflicting views. But it is not within the university’s purview to limit constitutionally protected speech.
