Donut daze: Voodoo Doughnut will commemorate 4/20 with two eccentric specials
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — If the munchies lead you to sweet treat cravings, Voodoo Doughnut has you covered.
The Portland-founded chain defined by its unconventional offerings has unveiled its specials for this upcoming weekend: the Chicken ‘N Waffles Doughnut and $1 Maple Blazer Blunts.
While the former treat is a donut “dipped in chicken-flavored frosting, topped with crunchy waffle bits, and drizzled in maple,” the latter is a “fan favorite rolled in cinnamon sugar, dipped in maple frosting, and topped with red sprinkle embers.”
The special lasts from Friday, April 18 to Sunday, April 20 — which happens to be a holiday outside of Easter.
Every year, “4/20” serves as a cause for celebration for marijuana enthusiasts. Although the origin of the holiday is up for debate, it’s commonly said that it was prompted by a group of California teenagers who would regularly join each other for smoke sessions at 4:20 p.m. in the early ‘70s.
In honor of the occasion, PAM CUT’s Tomorrow Theater is hosting a screening of 1993 stoner comedy “Dazed and Confused” — paired with an arts-and-crafts session from Portland’s Ritual Dyes. Hamburger chain Carl’s Jr. is also offering a $4.20 “snack stash” for reward members through Sunday.
Voodoo Doughnut’s upcoming special will be available for customers both in person and online. The Chicken ‘N Waffles Doughnut is additionally available for pre-order.
