Man charged with possessing over 16 grams of drugs after fleeing officials
VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY) -- Authorities arrested a man after a vehicle chase and narcotics search where it was discovered he possessed over 16 grams of drugs, authorities said.
Brian Henry, 45, of Chataignier was arrested and charged with one count of distribution and possession of marijuana, one count of possession of methamphetamines, one count of possession of suboxone and one count of flight from an officer on April 3, authorities said.
Authorities said they observed a a vehicle, who they later determined belonged to Henry, turn left onto Elbea Street, driving out of it its lane of travel.
Due to Henry allegedly having several interactions with criminal patrol, authorities activated the emergency lights to effect a traffic stop on the vehicle as it continued to travel east on Wyble Road and refused to stop, authorities said.
After several attempts to block the vehicle, the vehicle turned into the driveway of 1518 Peggy St. At this time, Henry was allegedly seen moving around in the vehicle as if he was attempting to conceal or destroy possible evidence, authorities said.
Authorities said they made contact with Henry and conducted a narcotics search with a K9 unit on Henry's person and his vehicle.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Henry possessed a plastic bag containing 7.78 grams of marijuana, a small glass jar with 8.01 grams of marijuana, .52 grams of methamphetamines along with a glass meth pipe and two Buprenorphine & Naloxone Sublingual Film 8Mg/2mg, authorities said.
Before the vehicle search, it was also discovered Henry did not have a valid driver's license, secure insurance or valid vehicle registration, authorities said.
Henry was booked into the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office and has a bond set at $35,000.
