Travis Kelce Breaks Silence on Viral Tweet About Jesus
Travis Kelce's past came back to haunt him over the weekend. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end got trolled over a tweet that he posted on Easter back in 2010. The resurfaced tweet made the rounds in 2025, and Kelce's brother Jason Kelce wasn't about to let it go.
"Happy Easter to all. Shout out to Jesus for taking one for the team," Travis had written 15 years ago.
On the April 23 episode of the New Heights podcast, Jason brought up the tweet.
"We have potentially the greatest tweet ever tweeted on Easter day. This is the best thing ever," Jason began.
Travis, who instantly cringed, responded, "This is so f------ dumb." After Jason read the tweet aloud, Travis called it "so ridiculous." He went on to offer a bit of an explanation.
"Listen, I wanted to make sure everybody knew I was having a good time joking about this," Travis said. The brothers then went on a bit of a back and forth about the tweet and the message behind it.
"We don't give Jesus enough shout-outs for taking one for the team if we're all honest," Jason said, adding, "He's the the epitome of taking one for the team. He died for our sins."
According to the Daily Mail, the tweet has been deleted from Travis' X account.
Travis didn't say anything about his plans for Easter 2025, nor did he mention whether or not he spent the religious holiday with his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
