Heartbreaking New Detail Emerges in Death of Former Kid Actor, 24

New details are emerging regarding the death of actress Sophie Nyweide.

According to Entertainment Weekly, a death certificate disclosed that Nyweide was pregnant at the time of her death.

Nyweide, who starred in films such as Mammoth and Ân Invisible Sign, was pronounced dead after her body was discovered early on April 14 near a high school in Bennington, Vermont. The circumstances surrounding her death are currently the subject of investigation, with police including the possibility of foul play.

Previously, Nyweide’s mother has shared that her daughter struggled with drug use, which may be relevant to the investigation. In an obituary, Nyweide's family stated the actress “self medicated to deal with all the trauma and shame she held inside, and it resulted in her death."

"Sophie was a kind and trusting girl. Often this left her open to being taken advantage of by others," Nyweide's family wrote in an obituary. "She wrote and drew voraciously, and much of this art depicts the depth she had, and it also represents the pain she suffered. Many of her writings and artwork are roadmaps of her struggles and traumas."

Entertainment Weekly also reports that Nyweide’s family asked instead that individuals to make a donation to RAINN, the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, in Nyewide’s name to honor her.

Aside from Mammoth and An Invisible Sign, Nyweide also appeared in films such as Noah, Bella, Margot at the Wedding, and Shadows & Lies. Nyewide also had appeared TV shows like Law & Order and What Would You Do?
