'Sinners' Stays Stays No. 1 for Second Week at Box Office, Smallest Second-Week Drop for a R-Rated Horror Movie in History!
Sinners is going strong – and making history.
The Ryan Coogler-directed film starring Michael B. Jordan kept its spot at No. 1 for a second weekend at the box office, pulling in $45 million and defying projections, via THR.
That number represents one of the smallest drops in history for a movie playing outside of the year-end holidays, or 6% off from its $48 million opening weekend.

It now has the smallest second-weekend drop for any film opening over $40 million since 2009’s Avatar, and the smallest ever for an R-rated horror title. So far, it’s made $122.5 million domestically, and $161.6 million globally.
Here’s a synopsis: “Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.”
