Mike Myers Explains His Protest on 'SNL': 'Fascism Doesn't Like to Be Ridiculed'
Mike Myers is speaking out about his protest on Saturday Night Live‘s March 1 episode.
The 61-year-old Canadian-born comedian has parodied Elon Musk a few times on the late night comedy sketch show, and during one appearance on March 1, was notably wearing a “Canada is Not for Sale” shirt during the show’s sign-off.
This came after Donald Trump said he’d like to make Canada the 51st state in the USA, while Musk himself said Canada was “not a real country.”

Mike told the New York Times that throughout that night, before wearing the t-shirt on March 1, “I got angrier and angrier.”
“What happened came from my ankles and from my brain and from my heart, and it was not about me — it was about my country. I wanted to send a message home to say that I’m with you, you know,” he said. “Fascism doesn’t like to be ridiculed; it likes to be feared. Satire is an important tool in the toolbox to say that this is not normal — that the cuts he’s making are not normal.”
