Popular retailer launches 50% off ‘everything must go’ closing down sale
A POPULAR outdoor retailer has put everything on half price as it is set to close down.
Online retailer, Essex Camping, announced it will be closing down over the next two months.
The closing down sale was revealed in a post to the company’s Facebook page: “With a heavy heart we are closing down over the next 2 months.
“We therefore have a 50% off all remaining stock.”
Everything has been put at half price, with a range of camping accessories, cooking equipment and essentials on sale.
So if you are looking to do your next outdoor adventure, you can get your hands on some good quality products for a good price.
This is anywhere from tent as low as £20, a range of torches for under £5, cooking equipment, furniture, sleeping bags and accessories.
Some of the best selling brands provided by Essex Camping include high quality tent providers like Robens, Wechsel and Outwell.
It also has camping gear by Summit Outdoor Leisure, easy camp, and Quest Leisure to deliver on the diverse needs of outdoor enthusiasts.
On the Essex Camping website, “As a trusted name in the camping industry, we understand the significance of delivering top-tier products to our valued customers.
“We source our products from reputable manufacturers known for their exceptional craftsmanship and durability.”
Although based in Essex, the online retailer has delivered its products and services to customers across the UK.
Its closure is one of several retail businesses that have had to close recently, as many have struggled with rising costs.
This follows an Awful April, in which the Government’s Budget brought changes increasing costs for businesses.
Even big-name brands like WHSmith, Sainsbury’s, Iceland and The Entertainer have seen stores closed this year.
It is worth noting that retailers do regularly open and close shops for a number of reasons, not just because they are struggling.
Some retailers have been forced to hike prices, while others are reviewing their stores and expansion plans.
RETAIL PAIN IN 2025
The British Retail Consortium has predicted that the Treasury’s hike to employer NICs will cost the retail sector £2.3billion.
Research by the British Chambers of Commerce shows that more than half of companies plan to raise prices by early April.
A survey of more than 4,800 firms found that 55% expect prices to increase in the next three months, up from 39% in a similar poll conducted in the latter half of 2024.
Three-quarters of companies cited the cost of employing people as their primary financial pressure.
The Centre for Retail Research (CRR) has also warned that around 17,350 retail sites are expected to shut down this year.
It comes on the back of a tough 2024 when 13,000 shops closed their doors for good, already a 28% increase on the previous year.
Professor Joshua Bamfield, director of the CRR said: “The results for 2024 show that although the outcomes for store closures overall were not as poor as in either 2020 or 2022, they are still disconcerting, with worse set to come in 2025.”
Professor Bamfield has also warned of a bleak outlook for 2025, predicting that as many as 202,000 jobs could be lost in the sector.
“By increasing both the costs of running stores and the costs on each consumer’s household it is highly likely that we will see retail job losses eclipse the height of the pandemic in 2020.”
