04/30/2025: Sunny & Seasonable
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:
In wake of a summer-like Tuesday with temps in the 80s finishing off with some rain and thunder, we are cooler but quite bright for the middle of the week. Clouds looks to thicken again tomorrow late in the day before more widespread showers and thunderstorms take us into the weekend.
Morning cloudiness will give way to nearly crystal-clear skies. There will be a bit of a breeze to contend with, but temperatures will still be near average for the end of April with highs in the 60s.
Skies remain mostly clear overnight. With the winds relaxing, temperatures will fall into the 30s for Thursday morning.
Temperatures push 70 Thursday afternoon, but clouds will begin to increase at that point. A southerly breeze will develop as well, which will gradually increase the humidity heading into Friday. Shower and storm activity will hold off during the daytime hours.
Even at night, it doesn't turn into a total, widespread washout. Ditto for the daytime hours of Friday - but a humid feel with temperatures pushing 80 will support the development of thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. The weekend will begin with unsettled weather as well - because of course it will. Showers look to be more numerous during the PM hours, but dry time may be a bit harder to come by for the first half of the weekend compared to Friday.
Even Sunday we've had to follow some of the trends in guidance which are supporting a few lingering showers, especially early in the day. Both weekend days will feature highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. This same disturbance may cut off from the main upper-level flow early next week. Where this occurs will have large ramifications on our forecast. For now, we are leaning drier for the start of next week. But if the cut-off upper-level disturbance occurs just a bit sooner, these days will also trend wetter. Guidance is still divided at this point, so the forecast will continue to evolve over the coming days. Temperatures look to slowly climb back towards 70 by the middle of next week.
