22-year-old dies after striking deer with motorcycle in Saugerties
SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Saugerties Police responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on Charles Smith Road in the town of Saugerties on Tuesday night. Police say a 22-year-old man from Catskill died from his injuries.
According to Chief of Police Kenneth Swart Jr., the motorcycle was traveling southbound around 8:25 p.m. when it struck a deer. Police say they are withholding the name of the victim until the end of the day, for notifications to his family.
According to police, emergency medical care was attempted on scene, but the driver succumbed to his injuries. Chief Swart said an investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Both Saxton Fire Department and the Diaz Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
