“But I’ll always miss him, of course, and I’ll always love him. He was a great partner to me. I’m so thankful, I got so many cards, letters, flowers, from all over the world. I had no idea Carl Dean was so famous,” she added.
The “I Will Always Love You” singer then reflected on a sentimental moment where a young boy recently recognized her on a float in Dollywood.
“It was right after I had lost Carl, and I was just so bottled up with emotion, and I got in the van and just boo-hooed for the longest time, just feeling all that love and emotion,” she said.
This March, Carl Dean passed away at the age of 82. A week later, Dolly paid tribute to him by releasing a touching new song.
