Rock Legend Bob Seger Turns 80
Bob Seger celebrated a big birthday. The “Night Moves” singer turned 80 years old on May 6, 2025, and he received plenty of birthday wishes from fans.
On social media, fans gave Seger a shout-out in honor of his milestone day.
“Happy Birthday to the legendary @BobSeger! From the Silver Bullet Band to every jukebox in America, your voice has soundtracked road trips, late nights, and memories that never fade. Cheers,” came a post on X.
“Happy 80ťh birthday to the superb #BobSeger. Still running against the wind,” another fan wrote.
Seger started his musical career in the late 1960s with his debut album Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man. But it was the Detroit native’s 1970s-era collaboration with The Silver Bullet Band that spawned classic hits such as “Against the Wind,” “Old Time Rock ‘n Roll,” and “Turn the Page.” The Grammy winner was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
As he aged, Seger wrote songs about gun control and climate change, despite knowing it could “alienate some fans.” “But I’m 69. What the heck can they do to me now?” he said in 2014, according to Rolling Stone.
Seger retired from touring after a final Roll Me Away Farewell Tour that ended in 2019.
In a June 2021 interview with WCSX, the rocker reflected on his massive career success. "You know, I've had a great life, oh my goodness,” Seger said. “I loved what I did. Never worked a day in my life, really. The hard parts were in sleeping in hotels, having rotten food."
