Instacart’s New App Is Aiming for the Over-21 Party Crowd
Get ready for a new app to pop up for partygoers. Instacart is incorporating a social aspect to their new venture, Fizz, that's strictly for the 21-plus crowd.
It's a snack and drinks delivery app with a $5 flat-fee delivery rate and the ability to invite your guests to your Fizz cart. When people ask a host what they can bring to the party, everyone can choose from the pre-selected party cart. The guest pays for their item and the host decides when the full order is delivered. A Fizz shopper will bring the items to the host's door.
The news was announced on May 6 and mainstream retailers including Kroger, Albertsons, Safeway, Schnucks, and Wegmans, are already a part of the launch. No membership is required for the Fizz app, but the experience is solely dedicated to items like alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, chips, party supplies, and dip.

Daniel Danker, Instacart’s chief product officer, explained to TechCrunch that Instacart wanted to stay current with the social trends — people are splitting the costs of a party in 2025.
“It’s becoming more and more common when people gather that they share in contributing to what it takes to put together a party, but then they do this kind of bill-splitting thing,” Danker said. “Afterwards, they open up Venmo, and they kind of divide up the cost. And while we think that that’s great, certainly better than a more manual way of doing it in the past, we actually think there’s an opportunity to just completely eliminate that step and make it even more effortless.”
Fizz is currently available on iOS and Android to anyone who is 21 and over.
