Community supports business destroyed by fire
GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Gloversville community is rallying around Adirondack Exotics, a local pet store that lost everything when a fire broke out at the nearby Fownes Brothers Glove Factory.
A 17-year old was arrested and charged with arson. Adirondack Exotics owner Darrin Palmateer told NEWS10 he started collecting exotics 12 years ago and opened his own shop in 2023. He moved to the South Main Street location a few months ago.
Palmateer lost all of his animals in the fire. Now, the community is trying to help him rebuild through a GoFundMe.
Palmateer said he has toured a potential location for a new shop and has started preparing for the Capital District Reptile Expo on May 18.
