Tiny UK airport gets new 1-hour flights to stunning British Isle that’s warmer than UK with Caribbean-style beaches
UK residents can enjoy warm weather and Caribbean-style beaches after just an hour on a plane.
A new flight has been launched ahead of the summer to take holidaymakers to a stunning British Isle.
Newcastle Airport has added a new route to a “picturesque” island just an hour away from the UK.
The airport announced its new partnership with Blue Islands, an airline that specialises in serving the Channel Islands.
Known as the “Channel Islands’ airline”, Blue Islands launched its new services to Jersey and Guernsey earlier this week.
The new routes operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, to and from Newcastle.
Jersey and Guernsey are located between Britain and France and offer aquamarine waters and white sandy beaches.
Just nine miles by five miles, Jersey is known as the “little island with the big spirit”.
It boasts a warm and sunny climate, making it ideal for those looking to pursue a range of outdoor activities including hiking, surfing, kayaking, and diving.
There are also a wide variety of historic sites to visit, including Jersey’s capital Saint Helier where you’ll find Elizabeth Castle, the Maritime Museum, and historic sites like Liberation Square and Royal Square.
There are also shopping hubs like Liberty Wharf and St. Helier Central Market.
An easy holiday destination for Brits, this island is home to hundred-year-old castles, food with French and English influences, coastal walks, and some of the best beaches.
St. Brelade’s Bay Beach is located on the south of the island and received a Travellers’ Choice award from TripAdvisor last year.
St. Ouen’s Bay is another popular choice, famous for its golden sands and safe swimming with one visitor saying they felt “as if they were in the Caribbean“.
“Must be one of the most beautiful beaches on earth. Crystal clear sea,” another tourist added.
“Surrounded by great restaurants and hotels.”
Just 14 miles off the French coast but 85 miles from the south of England coastline, Jersey’s location means it has milder climate, with more sunshine hours than the rest of the British Isles.

Do I need a passport to get to Jersey?
You don’t need to carry your passport or identity card when travelling from the UK to Jersey, but its always a good idea to carry one.
When entering the country you will need some form of recognised photographic identification for Jersey Customs and Immigration Officers to check so they can confirm your identity, nationality and evidence of your immigration permission.
There are no formal immigration controls when travelling within the Common Travel Area.
In August, the average temperature of the island sits between 18 and 23 degrees, sometimes reaching 28 degrees.

Visitors can also reach the island is via ferry, which can take anywhere from four hours 20 minutes up to 10 hours.
