Summer heat fades, rain chances increase around Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The summer-like heat felt Tuesday around Portland will fade as clouds increase and rain chances return to the region on Wednesday.
Skies will remain mostly dry across much of the Portland, Vancouver area on Wednesday, but temperatures will cool into the low to mid-70s. A 10-degree temperature drop is due to an approaching cold front that will bring a few sprinkles back to the region Wednesday evening into Thursday.
Rain accumulation isn't expected to be anything more than a few raindrops to a few hundredths of an inch Wednesday to Thursday evening. More widespread and accumulative rain is possible early next week.
Clouds will be more abundant on Wednesday and will last through the end weekend. Mother's Day plans might have to include rain attire as the chance for precipitation returns. Sunday's light rain showers won't amount to much, but will increase by the start of next week.
Temperatures will start warming again as 80-degree weather tries to work its way back into the Pacific Northwest on Friday. That latest push of warm will quickly fade by the end of the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to sit slightly cooler than the average for the middle of May. The cooler and cloudier weather will be matched with the wet weather potential.
