QuikTrip Is Opening New Stores at Rapid Pace
A popular convenience store chain is opening new locations in a major expansion.
As of April 2025, QuikTrip had expanded its stores by 10% over the past year, according to C-Store Drive.
There were 1,149 QuikTrip locations in the U.S., as of April 2025, an increase of 10%, the site reported. The most recent store opened in Indiana, according to C-Store Dive.
The year before, the chain's "footprint" grew 7%, so its expansion is picking up speed, C-Store Dive reported.
On April 18, 2025, QuikTrip touted adding its first-ever Indiana store.
The company "celebrated its expansion into Indiana by opening a new travel center in Daleville at 15101 W. Commerce Rd., located along Interstate 69 at Exit 234. With this location, QuikTrip now operates more than 1,100 stores in 20 states," a press release says.
Founded in 1958 and headquartered in Oklahoma, QuikTrip already employs 31,000 people, according to its press release.
According to C-Store Dive, QuikTrip last year added new stores in Ohio and Utah for the first time, and plans to expand to Kentucky, Florida and Utah as well.
In February, the company announced it had opened its 6th store in Tennessee. That same month, the chain also announced the opening of its 17th store in Colorado.
QuikTrip's expansion comes as some retailers and restaurant chains are closing locations. For example, Subway closed more than 600 locations in 2024.
However, other convenience store chains are also expanding. For example, Wawa, a convenience store chain that usually offers fuel at its locations, is planning to build 700 new stores in the next five years.
