Walton Goggins Kills It in First 'SNL' Promo
Walton Goggins took a page from The White Lotus for her first promo for Saturday Night Live. The actor will be the guest host for the penultimate Season 50 episode of the NBC late-night show on May 10. In a promo posted to Instagram on May 7, Goggins tried to guess how his episode of SNL would “end.”
In a bit with series regular Marcello Hernandez, Goggins compared SNL to the latest White Lotus season in which his character, Rick Hatchett, had a gruesome demise. The actor tried to guess which SNL cast member would die by the end of the show.
He first predicted that the show's two "Weekend Update" anchors would perish. “Colin Jost, Michael Che, murder-suicide,” he said.
“They’re not characters. It’s not that type of thing. No one is dying! ” Hernandez told him.
“That’s exactly what someone who’s about to die would say,” Goggins replied.
Goggins then predicted Heidi Gardner or perhaps Chloe Fineman would kill Hernández, before declaring, "It’s Bowen [Yang]. It’s always been Bowen, it will always be Bowen, because he hates you.”
In the end, it was Michael Longfellow who offed Hernandez, prompting a gleeful Goggins to say, “Wow… I did not see that coming!"
Arcade Fire will be the musical guest when Goggins takes the stage at Studio 8H. But some fans are hoping that his White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood (Rick’s girlfriend Chelsea on the HBO hit) will make a cameo as well.
“It’d be fun,” Wood told Entertainment Tonight, after clarifying she will not be doing such a thing. “I love working with Walton, it was the best thing ever," she added."He obviously — he's going to be incredible doing SNL. Like it's the perfect thing for him to do. He's going to be hilarious. I’m so excited to see it.”
