FACT CHECK: 2025 midterm elections on May 12, no date change
Claim: The date of the 2025 national and local elections has been moved to May 10 instead of May 12, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Why we fact-checked this: On May 5, a Facebook page with 5,800 followers posted a claim that the 2025 elections have been rescheduled to May 10 due to the extreme heat index reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration.
The post shows a screenshot of the now-deleted post by Facebook page “PRC Board and Exam Results.” The featured post bears a photo that appears to have been released by the Comelec as it contains its name and logo. It contains text that reads, “Public advisory. New schedule of election. May 10, 2025”.
The facts: Comelec debunked the claim in a post on May 5, reiterating that the 2025 elections will happen on May 12, Monday.
The poll body said: “Tuloy na tuloy po ang halalan sa Lunes, May 12, 2025!” (The elections will proceed on Monday, May 12, 2025!)
“Fake news ang graphics na kumakalat ukol sa paglipat ng halalan sa May 29, 2025. Hindi ito galing sa tanggapan ng Comission on Elections, at hindi ipinost sa official at verified social media channels ng Comelec. Ang National and Local Elections ay sa May 12, 2025, mula 7:00 am hanggang 7:00 pm.”
(The graphics circulating online about the election being moved to May 29, 2025, are fake news. These did not come from the Commission on Elections office and were not posted on the official and verified social media channels of Comelec. The National and Local Elections are on May 12, 2025, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.)
The Comelec also noted in the post that early voting hours for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant voters will be from 5 am to 7 am. (READ: A step-by-step guide to voting in the 2025 elections)
Disinformation during election season: The Comelec has warned the public that election-related disinformation is an election offense punishable by the Omnibus Election Code.
