Another taste of summer around Portland, rain on the way
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Another round of summer-like warmth builds across the Pacific Northwest as the rain-free days come to a close.
Temperatures will begin to warm on Friday as highs around Portland near 80 degrees. Even warmer weather is expected east of the Cascades, with some locations nearing almost 90 degrees.
The number of days with no accumulated rain continues to grow, but nears its end this weekend. Temperatures will go from nearly 80 degrees on Friday to the mid-60s this weekend. Rain accumulation isn't expected to occur until Mother's Day on Sunday. That's where a tenth of an inch of rain accumulation is possible.
Rain showers continue through the start of next week. That's where cool afternoon temperatures will continue to sit a few degrees below the average of 68 degrees.
Next week will look much different than much of Portland's spring season so far. Scattered rain showers and cooler temperatures will take Portland through the middle of May. A drier pattern may return by the end of next week.
