Shane Lowry Receives 4-Word Message From Wife Wendy Amid Truist Championship
Major champion Shane Lowry has a chance to do something he hasn't done in nearly 1,000 days. -win on the PGA Tour.
The Irishman entered the final round of the Truist Championship, the PGA Tour's fifth of six signature events, tied for the lead at 14-under with fellow three-time PGA Tour winner Sepp Straka. Lowry, who hasn't won in 972 days, knows he's been close in previous attempts.
“I just think you need to be persistent,” Lowry said Saturday, via Golf.com. “You need to keep putting yourself there, and eventually it will happen. You look at Rory at the Masters a few weeks ago. Keep knocking on the door, and eventually you’ll go through it. I feel like I’ve done a good job of it this season, last season. It does get frustrating sometimes, but I’m in the final group tomorrow. I’ve played pretty good golf this year. I’m pretty happy with the way I’m playing this week, and I’m going to go out and give my best. If it’s good tomorrow, that will be great.”
While he's focused on the task at hand, Lowry isn't forgetting one of the most important people in his life. He made sure to give his wife, Wendy, a Mother's Day surprise even though he's away in Philadelphia.
"Best Mother's Day surprise," she said on her Instagram story early Sunday, May 11.

Heading into the final round, Lowry offered himself a message.
“Just allowing myself to be myself and play my game,” Lowry said. “I think, if I allow myself to be me tomorrow, I can achieve what I want to achieve. It’s a funny old game. There’s obviously some of the best players in the world not too far behind us. So, yeah, I’ll give it my best.”
He's off to a good start with a birdie on No. 1 to take a one-shot lead.
