Iberia Parish police arrest alleged violent offender after pursuit
IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A man known as a violent offender was arrested in Iberia Parish after a pursuit.
Bradley James Lewis, Jr., 25, was arrested on multiple charges.
Around 1:30 p.m. this evening, New Iberia Police were notified of a shoplifter at a local business in the 1200 block of Parkview Avenue.
Officials said the shoplifter was identified as Lewis, who was known to have active violent felony warrants through NIPD.
Authorities said they attempted to make contact with Lewis, but he fled in a vehicle, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Lewis eventually stopped and fled from the vehicle on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Lewis was apprehended.
Lewis was booked into an Iberia Parish jail and charged on warrants for armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of weapons, carjacking, second-degree kidnapping, first degree robbery and theft. Lewis was also charged for aggravated flight from an officer and resisting an officer.
There is no information regarding Lewis' bond.
