Dramatic Footage Shows Fatal Home Explosion in New Jersey
Two people are dead after a home exploded in New Jersey on Sunday night, footage of which was captured on a security doorbell, local outlet ABC6 reported.
According to NBC10, the unidentified bodies of a man and woman were recovered from the scene, which occurred in Washington Township in Gloucester County. The horrifying explosion, which occurred around 2 a.m. local time, was captured by a neighbor’s doorbell camera. It shows the house exploding into a plume of smoke, with the site entirely engulfed in flames within moments. Officials categorized the blaze as an “intense fire.” An investigation into the cause of the blast is ongoing.
The explosion terrified neighbors, many of whom never expected such a violent event in their quiet suburb. “I was terrified, absolutely terrified,” Susan Pinto told ABC6. “Because I never heard an explosion like that in my life, and it just was, the house was, basically, burning to the ground very, very quickly.”
“The whole house was in flames already, that fast as soon as the explosion happened,” Pinto’s neighbor, Jimmy Gibson, concurred.

The intense heat from the explosion also damaged two homes on either side of the devastated property. One homeowner told ABC6 that the siding of her home melted away shortly after the blast.
The identities of the two deceased in the fire have not been released. Authorities are still working to determine the exact cause of the tragedy.
