Six Flags Great Escape opening this week: What's new this year
QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury is opening for the season on Saturday, May 17. The theme park will have some new ride and dining enhancements as well as a new policy update and special events for the 2025 season.
Beginning on Saturday, the park will operate weekends and select days. June 19 marks the start of daily operations.
The theme park announced the restoration of Storytime Houses, which was repainted and restored to bring back the original charm. One of the classic roller coaster's in the park, Flashback, was also given a new color scheme.
With the ride updates there also comes dining enhancements as tacos and adult beverages will be provided throughout the park this season. There is also an update in policy; beginning on Saturday, there will be a smoke-free policy at the park with smoking only allowed between the front entrance and metal detection.

The lineup of special events for the season is as follows:
- May 23 through May 26: Military Appreciation Days sale
- July 3 through July 6: Red, White, and Rock!
- August 23 through September 21: Oktoberfest
- September 27 through October 26: Fright Fest
- September 27 through October 27: Kids Boo Fest
